It's a Jolly Holiday!

The dance went wonderfully!! Santa was a success and the children had a blast. Lots of pop and snacks and DANCING!!! The decorations looked beautiful too. We had a minor glich in setting up that could have caused us to have no music but luckily we found a solution and thankfully I knew someone that lived close by to help. Whew! (The picture is all SCEC officers and Mr and Mrs Claus, for those who were confused).

On another note, I passed my severe and profound OSAT so now I fortunately have three OSATs under my belt and I am completely happy about it! I am even more excited about starting my full internship in the spring. Saturday was my last seminar for my second internship and I am excited about moving on. I can't believe it is finally here. This is the long haul now! However, I'm not looking forward to "The Learning Project" which was first started this semester. It's a new addition to the program and I see it as more paperwork. Great. After the seminar I had a baby shower for a good friend. I just love that entire family. It was a fun shower with amazing food. Lots of laughter and incredible gifts. She is truely blessed. I didn't want to leave. Interesting event took place, her grandfather can "read" people or something. I don't know what to call it but he gave me my reading. He didn't look at my palms or anything just me, and my auroa I guess. He was incredibly accurate on everything. He informed me of a few things that were intriguing. He knew that I just bought a green coat and said I don't have good luck in it. I choose not to believe it because that is my favorite coat and I look damn cute in it. HA! Check back for details to see if he was correct about a few others! :)
Thursday night was 'The Christmas Gathering' at the Church at Battle Creek. It was so much fun! I laughed so hard until my sides hurt. I brought my mom and another friend. I think my mom was crying from laughing. We got some excellent gifts and great ideas. I'm already excited about next year!

Well, today I was blessed to have such a wonderful morning with the boy I watch throughout the week and at sunday school. Of course when he saw me he ran and we had to chase him down and get him back into the room. He never wants to see me at the beginning but boy did he turn it around. We stayed majority of class and left when it got to be too much. When we first got settled into the room and were playing he was asking me if we were going to go any where today after church because I usually take him to a creek to look for bugs. Only if he earns it. Well when he was asking me he asked about my parents dog, Jake. He loves that dog. He asked if he could go see him and then remembered that he owed my dad money from last time. My dad told him it costs 10 cents for each time he pets him so when he left last time he said he owed him a dollar and can't get back in unless he had it. Well, when we were talking in class he turned and says, with such dramatic effect, "OH NO!! I DONT HAVE A DOLLAR!!! I CANT GET IN!!!!" He was so upset. I reassured him that I could find him a dollar. So later after he earned the treat we headed over to my parents, I found a dollar and he just marched himself right in so proud that he had a dollar and first thing he did was go hand it to my dad. We stayed for a bit and then went to the learning trail to find bugs. No luck with the bugs because of the cold weather but we did run into two golden retrievers and one looked identical to 'Shadow' from the movie Homeward Bound. He kept calling the dog shadow. haha! I love that boy! We had a fun day together and I look forward to monday night!

"He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." -Isaiah 40:29-31

Pez, with a side of Mac and Cheese

This has been an eventful week already and I haven't made it halfway through yet. Friday is the big dance for Student Council for Exceptional Children (SCEC). I didn't realize the immense amount of duties I had taken on since I was forced into being President. I am so thankful for my officers who are right there by my side. This friday we are having a Christmas dance for all students and adults with special needs. One of our professors and his wife are going to dress as Mr. and Mrs. Claus. I think I might be more excited than some of the children. I'm going to ask him for a flat screen TV, with a hunter green bow! I'm dreaming big!

Tonight was my second to last night of tutoring with my little first grader. He is adorable and I have truely cherished every moment with him. We have a habit of getting sidetracked from our reading and end up giggling. I was having him read the sight word 'at' and the word before it was 'she' and I was working on the 'sh' sound with him too much apparently and when he was attempting to read 'at' he goes, "SHAT!!" Needless to say we moved onto another word. This boy has become my little chunk of sunshine and his face lights up when he sees me, and mine does the same when I see him. The other week when we were reading his new books he got from the book fair for the first time, (because he came running at me telling me he got books for us, so I had to say yes) I asked him if he read at home with his parents, his response was, "My dad is always too busy and my mom doesn't really read anything unless its really really important." My heart sank. From my experience with him over the semester I have discovered how often he is neglected at home because of the little comments he makes unknowing what depth they have. I yearn for him to experience unconditional love and faithfulness. I wish I could take him home with me so I could shower him with love and attention that he deserves to grow into a strong young man he is capable of becoming. This verse came to mind for him...

"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed, says the Lord, who has compassion on you." -Isaiah 54:10

-----one more story for the road, I asked my tutee what were some of his favorite cookies or treats so I knew what to bring if I wanted to surprise him next week as a fun last tutoring day. His responses are always brillant, he said, "Well I loooove pez. Oh and I also love macaroni and cheese for dinner."
